As fans know, Mackenzie McKee’s mother has been battling cancer. Her mother’s illness has been a part of her new storyline, but Mackenzie has just opened up about the current status of her mother’s condition.
Radar Online reported that Mackenzie’s mother, Angie Douthit, has continued to struggle. In the most recent episode of Teen Mom, Angie told her daughters that she only had six months to live. What started as lung cancer spread to other parts of her body.
“The bigger the cancer, the bigger the miracle,” she said.
Mackenzie spoke with Radar Online to give an update on her mother’s current condition.
Mackenzie told the outlet that her mother has stopped chemotherapy all together. She said her mother had five masses on her brain and a 7cm add on one of her lungs that were inoperable.
“We just got the news yesterday that her blood counts are too low to continue with chemo,” Mackenzie told Radar. “There has been no miracle, but she is still with us.”
On the episode of Teen Mom, Angie revealed the cancer spread to her femurs, breast bone, hip bones, back, liver, and colon, as well as her lung and head. She told her daughters that she had about six months to live at the most.
“The doctors know they can’t do anything about this, really,” she said.
Mackenzie said it was difficult for her family to re-watch the episode. When Mackenzie told her children about their grandmother’s fate, they were equally distraught, especially her oldest.
“Everyday is a new day with Gannon,” she told Radar. “He always wants to be with her. She lives down the road from my new home so sometimes he escapes to go sit with her.”
Apparently Angie is worried her grandchildren won’t remember her, but wants her children to tell them stories about her.
