She doesn't like living in the spotlight
Do you remember Farrah Abraham’s sister Ashley Danielsen from the earlier episodes of Teen Mom OG? She seemed to have Farrah’s back when they would get into arguments with their mother Debra, but nowadays the tables have turned. Farrah has turned her back on most of her family members, but Ashley didn’t want to live her life under a microscope anyway. Ashley got tracked down by The Ashley’s Reality Roundup to talk about what’s going on in her life these days though, and she happily shared.
Radio Silence
Ashley Danielsen is Farrah’s older sister; she doesn’t share the same father as Farrah, but Ashley keeps in touch with her mom and stepfather regularly. She doesn’t, however, speak to Farrah very often.
Ashley said about her relationship to Farrah, “It’s very rare [that I speak to her]. I have a full schedule and I’m assuming she probably does too. Children, work, sports, appointments, school, etc… Life just gets in the way.”
Ashley is a mom to five-year-old Sylvia and two-year-old Axl. Unfortunately, they don’t get to see their cousin Sophia very often.
Ashley explained, “I don’t get to spend any time with Sophia. I think that’s the part that makes me the saddest. Our family was very close growing up. We were with our cousins almost every day. I think it’s sad that my kids won’t have that relationship with Sophia.”
Private Life
Ashley may not be able to spend very much time with Farrah who travels around constantly for her appearances on various shows and at clubs, but she has had the option to be on the more recent seasons of Teen Mom OG. Surprisingly, she just keeps turning them down.
She explained, “Once you’re on a network like MTV, which is worldwide, your entire life changes. You can’t go into public without people recognizing you, strangers send you friend requests and messages, and you basically lose your privacy. I’m a very private person. I have a small circle of friends and family that I choose to spend my time and energy on, I don’t want that interfered with.”
She continued about her choice to remain off of the show, “I value my privacy and the privacy of my children. I don’t feel it’s a productive use of my time. I really don’t care to be on camera. Time is money and they don’t pay me enough to be a part of that mess!”
She said that she doesn’t even watch the show that made her family so famous. She’d rather have private conversations with her family members about what really goes on. “I have completely blocked it all out. I know nothing unless someone else tells me,” she said.
Abuse
Farrah and her parents appeared on Marriage Boot Camp: Reality Stars Family Edition to try and resolve their differences, though it seemed like it didn’t work all that well. Farrah refuses to attend her mom’s upcoming wedding, an event Ashley is helping to plan.
Ashley agrees with her mom Debra, saying that Farrah was not abused as a child. However, she did say, “My mom and Michael fought a lot. She grew up around that.”
Ashley was asked to attend the bootcamp with her family but decided against it. Farrah seemed agitated about Ashley’s refusal, and said, “I really wish that my sister could have equally gone to Family Boot Camp with us. I think that would have been great, but I know she has her own limits and she’s doing what’s healthy from her. That’s separating herself from my mom and I’m still in contact with my sister and things have kind of sorted for us.”
Ashley feels that her children and her career come first, and maintaining a real relationship with her family, instead of playing it out on reality TV, is preferable. Ashley said, “I have been focusing on finishing my Bachelor’s degree and spending time with my children. My oldest is starting kindergarten in the fall and does sports, so we have a full schedule. I’m just enjoying my quiet, peaceful, drama-free life.”
