On the reunion episode, Ryan opened up about his journey. He said that when he first experienced withdrawal, he didn’t know what it was, which kickstarted his addiction.
“The first time I had a withdrawal, I thought I was sick,” he said. “My buddy was like, ‘Here do this.’ Instantly I felt better. After that, it was everyday all day.”
He said that living with addiction is “like living in a cage,” but is committed to sobriety.
“I can’t say I will be sober for the rest of my life. I would love to be. I’ll do whatever it takes,” said the reality star.
Mackenzie seems happy with Ryan’s sobriety. “We have a really good relationship. I really love living life with my best friend,” she said on the show.
One issue Ryan hasn’t gotten over? Maci calling him an “uncle” to his own son.
“He’s mine too. He’s not just hers. It doesn’t matter what she says it matters what I know and what happens and what I see,” he said. “She can say I’m his uncle, I don’t give a f**k to be honest. What is affecting my relationship with Bentley is Maci. She goes on TV and says whatever she wants.”
Maci recently trashed Ryan as a father, and blamed him for not reaching out to their son.
On the episode of Teen Mom OG, Maci got emotional when discussing Ryan being in jail, mostly the fact that is had hurt her son.
She was afraid her son might not be coping with his emotions properly, adding that “he doesn’t know how to face these feelings, which means he’s burying them somewhere.”
