Even though many people put on Teen Mom as a distraction from reality, it's impossible to ignore that the cast members live in the same world we do - one that's currently combatting racism and police brutality on an international level.
As the Teen Mom cast members speak out with their takes on the movement, it's no wonder they're facing some backlash. Now, Jenelle Evans and Ashley Jones are going toe to toe in an intense feud.
As the fight for an end to police brutality and racism continues to make strides, many of the Teen Mom cast members are chiming in with their two cents. However, as fans demand more and more from the celebrities they follow, it's no surprise that silence is being taken as opposition.
That may be one of many reasons why Jenelle Evans was accused of racism after she didn't speak out for several days after the unjust murder of George Floyd by Minneapolis police. Soon, Jenelle spoke up.
"I have a lot of people reaching out to me on social media right now about Black Lives Matter," Jenelle shared via her Instagram. Her statement continued:
"They want to know why I haven't spoke up since I am a social media influencer. I'm not racist by any means, and I do not condone what that police officer did to George Floyd, and I am very sorry that happened. With this being said, I would like for all the racist comments to stop being sent to my inbox, and I'd appreciate it if you guys stop calling me a racist because I haven't spoke out yet. Just because I haven't spoke out yet, you do not know my opinion, so don't sit there and judge. This is a very touchy subject, and I feel like every time I open my mouth about anything, whether it's politics, whether it's race, whether it's about parenting, everyone hates me no matter what I say, so I'm not trying to comment about anything right now. But I just want to let you guys know that I do think it was wrong, and I'm so sorry it happened. It shouldn't have happened. And it's bullsh*t that it did."
But for many, fans and co-stars alike, this wasn't enough - especially since Jenelle and her husband David Eason have posted inflammatory racist content across their social media in the past.
Young and Pregnant star Ashley Jones decided to speak out about it!
"Girl you and your husband both are some punk b*tch a** racist h*es," she wrote. "Just say it, what's the point in making a whole explanation video cause we know you are lying."
Her baby daddy Bar Smith also spoke out.
"'While you guys are destroying your precious cities... ' Shut that sh*t up you just ain't spoke up cause you are a racist b*tch a** gone kick you out of the land if you speak up. f*ck you and what you stand for," he wrote.
Bar was referring to a tone deaf Facebook update Jenelle made during the protests which read, "While all of you are rioting and destroying your precious cities, I'll be far far away on my boat away from all of you."
Ashley also took to Instagram to share her response.
"You sit by your husband while he talks sh*t about women, race, LGBTQ, every f*cking thing, immigration, all under the mother f*ckin' book, b*tch, you sit right by that motherf*cker's side while he talks all that motherf*cking sh*t," Ashley pointed out.
She went on, "And then you have the audacity to get on here and say, 'Oh everybody hates me and that's why I'm not speaking on the situation,' -- b*tch, f*ck you!"
"You're the b*tch that I'm talking about," Ashley said. "You're the b*tch that follows a motherf*cker off the freeway, pulls a gun on them, f*cks up their sh*t, and then calls and lies to the police. You're the b*tch that says, 'Oh I have a black friend so I can't be racist.'"
"No, b*tch, let me tell you something," Ashley went on.
"Any time I say anything, I'm a black n***r monkey b*tch. Any time Cheyenne addresses this, she's a black n****r monkey b*tch. Kayla was called a n****r lover, Lexi was called a n****r lover, and we all stand on what we stand for. We all spoke up for what's right, b*tch. So take that scripted-a** thing and rewrite it, and tell it to a b*tch that's not gonna peep that bullsh*t."
Ashley went on, "I know you're not telling David not to be racist and not to be homophobic and not to be every f*cking thing that he is... I know you guys are one in the same, that's why he's your husband, b*tch. That's why y'all are over there on the swamp looking like f*cking swamp creatures, b*tch... don't nag me about sh*t else, b*tch."

Chelsea Houska Unfollowed by Fans for Inappropriate Photos
Chelsea Houska is a fan favorite, but she alienated a lot of people over the weekend. If you've been paying attention to the news, there's been a lot of things happening in the news. From protests to coronavirus, it's difficult to get on social media without seeing something about the current state of the union.
So what did Chelsea do wrong? Well, many Instagram followers were angry after she posted some inappropriate photos, and they had a LOT to say about it.
Just last week we were excited that Chelsea Houska wanted to have another child! She was doing an Instagram Q&A where we learned a lot about her life during the quarantine.
"Are you wanting more children?" one fan wrote in.
Chelsea replied, "We think 1 more would be perfect!"
"How's Aub's doing with quarantine home schooling?" another fan wanted to know.
"She's done with school now!" Chelsea shared. "But she did great with it, and I'm glad we only had 1 kiddo to homeschool."
Things seemed to be fairly normal in the Teen Mom’s world, but now her Instagram follower count is plummeting. Over the weekend, protests over the murder of George Floyd continued across the country, many of them turning violent. Teen Mom OG star Cheyenne Floyd challenged her fellow stars to speak out on the violence.
Fans obviously expected Chelsea to say something on the matter. Last year, she rocked the boat after taking her kids to the Pride parade in her hometown, and many fans were thrilled to see her supporting the cause.
But unfortunately, those who were expecting something positive to come from Chelsea got something completely different…
“Aaaaaand I am now a believer that everyone needs a gold blazer because I’m OBSESSED. Try on haul in my stories in 15!” she posted on Instagram. “Snag this beaut and lots of other goodies!”
On a normal day, people wouldn’t have thought twice about this post. Chelsea is constantly promoting clothing lines, a girl’s gotta hustle and we respect that. But this wasn’t a normal day, and fans were upset that she was treating it as such.
“USE YOUR PLATFORM FOR GOOD,” one commenter wrote. “The fact that you are staying silent says ALOT.”
“Your privilege is showing,” commented another.
The commented continued from many different accounts, but it seems Chelsea got the message.
“My heart is absolutely broken for George Floyd and his family,” she wrote in her Instagram story. “We need to do better.”
Maybe it’s too little too late, or maybe Chelsea isn’t the activist her fans were hoping she’d become. Either way, the Teen Mom star has checked her privilege, at least somewhat. She shared this message this morning in her Instagram story:
I’m laying here in bed, thinking about my sleeping children. And my heart aches. I will never know what it’s like to be worried about them, solely because of the color of their skin. I may never experience what you are going through but I see you, I understand you. I want to do better, raise my children to be better..and make a difference.
I’m not the best with words, and I’ve overthought what to say and not say. But this morning I am just so overcome with sadness. I hope we can all come together and be better.
Overall, it’s a start, but Chelsea might want to reach out to her fans for some resources so she can learn more about what is currently happening.
