Barbara Evans was a fan favorite mom of a Teen Mom, and she sat down with us at Teen Mom Talk Now to give us an update on their family!
Barbara has full custody of Jenelle’s eldest son, Jace, and spends plenty of time with the other kids as well. The first thing we had to ask her was how they fared during hurricane Dorian. During the storm she shared a photo of breakfast that was made on their grill.
“Making breakfast in driveway after Hurricane Dorian for Jace and I no power,” read her caption.
“We did really well with this hurricane, it wasn’t as bad as last year’s. So we lost power for like a day, maybe less than a day,” Barbara told us.
She also said their house fared surprisingly well compared to what she was expecting and had prepared for.
“We didn’t have any damages here, it went really well. I didn’t even have like branches in my yard, I mean this was unbelievable,” she said. “I was out on the back porch the night it hit, and I thought for sure a tree was going to come down on my house, but I got up and everything was in place.”
As for the kids, Kaiser is currently in kindergarten and Jace is in fifth grade, but they’re on fall break at the moment.
“Jace is on his fall break now because he goes to all-year school, so he has three weeks off in the fall,” Barbara said. “And so he’ll be going to Jenelle’s house for two weeks, and then when I get him back after the two weeks we’ll probably do a few things, take a few day trips and stay overnight somewhere.”
The family might be heading on a vacation in the mountains, since the kids love to be outdoors.
“I think they might be going to the mountains for a couple of days,” said the matriarch of the family. “We live about six hours from Asheville, NC, so they’ll probably rent a cabin and go hiking and just enjoy the nature up there. I think there’s one resort, a ski resort, with snow actually.”
“They ski and do snowboarding, they love it,” she added. “Jace loves it, he can’t wait to go skiing again.”
When we talked to Barbara, she was heading out to take Jace to his first boy scout meeting of the season. “Yes in fact he’s in boy scouts…it starts tonight…he was doing soccer last fall but we’re not doing it til maybe next spring to give him a break,” she told us.
“This is his fourth year in boy scouts.”
