They're opening up!
Catelynn Lowell and Tyler Baltierra have been through a lot over the years, but from the very beginning, they’ve had one another. They’ve used each other for support and love as they’ve each hit lows and highs, and together they chose adoption for their first daughter and raised their second. Even though Catelynn and Tyler are #CoupleGoals for many fans, it’s obvious that it hasn’t always been easy. Catelynn’s recent battle with severe depression, anxiety, and suicidal thoughts has been difficult for both of them.
As Tyler addresses and battles his own diagnoses, Catelynn has opened up about exactly what dark thoughts went through her head at her lowest point.

Catelynn Lowell has been absent from many of her scenes on Teen Mom OG this season, and for good reason. She decided to go to a rehabilitation center after her miscarriage plunged her into a dark and suicidal place. Although she is doing much better now, she’s opening up with fans about just how difficult things got and the toll they have taken on her and her family.
At the Teen Mom OG reunion, Catelynn explained her “emotional year” of a miscarriage followed by two stays in treatment. Through tears, she revealed that at the time she knew “If I don’t go [to a treatment center] today, I’m going to off myself and life would be 10 times better.”
Not His Fault

“It wasn’t [Tyler Baltierra] fault at all,” Catelynn said. “It wasn’t his fault. It was just all of my own sh*t.” But she shared that she understood it’s hard to see a significant other struggle.
Catelynn shared that she had vivid thoughts of killing herself. “I could physically see myself driving into an electrical pole off the road, praying it would kill me.” But the one thing keeping her from doing it was her beautiful daughter Nova: “I wouldn’t do it because I had my kid in the backseat.”
In the meantime, Tyler began crying on stage. It was clear that he found it very difficult to hear the thoughts Catelynn was having and realize how close he came to losing his wife.

He reveals the pain for him is him imagining her being gone. “It’s difficult when you love somebody and they’re talking about stuff like that,” he said.
Even though Catelynn is out of rehab and the season has ended, it’s clear that Tyler is still struggling with his mental health. In another segment, he revealed that he has recently been given a new diagnosis of bipolar disorder. And some recent updates from him have fans very concerned.
“Laying in bed next to my peacefully sleeping wife,” Tyler recently tweeted. “I can hear my daughter snoozing away through the monitor in her room. My dog is cuddled up on the floor next to me…& yet I feel so empty…so alone,” he wrote, adding, “#TheCruelIronyOfLife.”
