“Cole was out of line,” wrote user cmrizzle on reddit. They added, “Aubree was trying to entertain the kids, all she asked for was a snack (normal kid behavior for her age). Chelsea was the one making the car ride stressful and instead of babying her Cole could’ve easily just told her to relax (Chelsea) …
Cole didn’t have to shame Aubree the way he did. Chelsea either needs to get it together for her family’s sake or stop getting so d*mn irritated with the kids because of HER OWN anxiety.” User LittlehouseonTHELAND agreed, “Also, Aubree shouldn’t be made to feel responsible for Chelsea’s mental health. That part where Cole was telling her to be calm so Chelsea would be calm was disturbing.”
This isn’t the only way that Cole seems to have changed. In the last episode of Teen Mom 2, after some tense exchanges with Adam Lind’s mother Donna, Cole angrily exclaimed, “I’m answering the door on Friday!” — making it clear he had every intention of telling her off!
Some fans have different theories about why Cole’s behavior has changed. “Just my theory, but I think he knows that Chelsea has a soft spot for tough guys and he’s trying to fit that stereotype. Hence the tattoos, and bulking up since he’s met her,” wrote user Samsquanch71.
User SpiritualCamera theorized, “I get the vibe that he just really likes being the White Knight in every aspect of Chelsea’s life, almost in a controlling way (but not abusively) that she’s perfectly alright with. He’s okay with pandering to her fragility in exchange for being completely in charge. She really couldn’t have found a more perfect dude to enable her total uselessness.”
