Chelsea Houska was recently slammed by fans for her parenting technique, and there might be some truth in their criticisms. This isn’t just another case of parent-shaming, because fans are truly upset by what occurred.

Chelsea Houska is a favorite among Teen Mom fans, which is why this news is so upsetting! Fans were not pleased with how she handled a situation with her daughter Aubree, and there may be some validity to their complaints.
Chelsea and her family are usually ones to promote healthy and positive lifestyle choices. A while back, she posted on Twitter about a near death experience. “So I want to share something that’s probably going to seem really random,” her tweet began. “But I feel like I can’t be the only person that wouldn’t have known what to do in this type of situation.”
“A couple of weeks ago, I was rushing to eat (steak) and I started choking. SERIOUSLY choking. It would not move up & I could not swallow,” read her second tweet.
Choking is a serious matter! According to the National Safety Council, “choking is the fourth leading cause of unintentional death.” Thousands of people die from choking every year.
“Luckily, Cole was home and he performed the Heimlich and was able to get it out! All I kept thinking about was WHAT IF I had been home alone?” she wrote.
She shared a video on how to do the Heimlich Maneuver, and it was a good thing Cole was around.
But this time, Chelsea and Cole DeBoer may have taken a step in the wrong direction when it comes to healthy decisions.
On Tuesday’s episode of Teen Mom 2, Chelsea opened up about having panic attacks, and Cole suggested she see a therapist. Chelsea wasn’t sure about it, but eventually came around to the idea of seeking help. Overall, nothing bad so far with the situation, right?
A fan on reddit posted a recap, alongside their opinions on the episode.
Aubree suggested that “maybe we could go together, mommy!” and that’s where things went awry for fans. Cole and Chelsea seemed uncomfortable with the fact their daughter wanted to go to therapy, and asked “you want to go to a therapist?”
Cole then said, “For what? You guys can just talk to me!”
Fans felt this was an incredibly insensitive way of handling the situation, especially one that was originally framed as a positive conversation surrounding therapy.
