There’s nothing that screams adulthood quite like buying your first home. But even though many make the transition into homeownership, some go the extra mile to renovate their homes and make it their very own.
Catelynn Lowell and Tyler Baltierra have been through some seriously dark times in the past year, but now they’re showing off how far they’ve come.

To say that Catelynn Lowell and Tyler Baltierra have faced difficulty in the past season of Teen Mom OG may just be the understatement of the year. They faced off with major life changes, suffering through depression, suicidal thoughts, and a miscarriage. Although they’ve recently been in a much healthier place with Catelynn out of rehab, they haven’t put all their troubles behind them. In fact, they were recentlysued for footage that aired on Teen Mom OG during their home renovation process!
According to a report by Radar Online, Tyler Baltierra was recently sued for things that aired on Teen Mom OG!

According to the outlet, Tyler was sued by Burtchville Township in a suit filed on Dec. 21, 2017. “After initially performing any work without permits, the Township discovered work was being performed and provided notice that permits must be obtained for the construction on the property,” the court papers read, according to Radar. “Mr. Baltierra, through his agent Catelynn Baltierra, did put a building permit application on or about March 27, 2017 claiming only work being done on the siding, front porch and gable gutters.” However, Tyler did not pay the $584 that was due for the application and permit.
The plaintiff also sued Tyler on claims that he did more work on the home than the building permit application described.

“The property was displayed on an episode of the television show Teen Mom showing electrical [and] plumbing work,” the papers read. “The work was in violation of Township Ordinance for failure to obtain electrical, plumbing, mechanical and other permits so that the work could be done by appropriately licensed professionals and inspect by the Township.”
In addition to this, Tyler didn’t apply for the right system permits and the work he did on the property was not inspected. This lead the plaintiff to claim that Tyler and any residents living in the home are living in a space that is unfit for occupancy.
According to Radar, the plaintiff “asked the court to have Baltierra apply for all appropriate building permits, pay for the past permit, have inspectors inspect the home, order anyone living in the home to vacate, and pay the plaintiff proper relief.”
Soon, the ruling of the court was revealed.

According to Radar, things didn’t go so well for Tyler. He was ordered to pay $2,088 in “permit expenses, filing fees, previously assessed fines for permit violations and attorneys fees.”
On top of this, Catelynn and Tyler are already seriously in the red. “In a delinquent tax bill obtained from St. Clair County Court in Michigan, Baltierra owes $1,794.88 for the 2016 year and $2,641.60 for the 2017 year on their previous home,” Radar reports, adding, “Lowell and Baltierra, both 26, were then slapped with a delinquent tax bill for $2,545.32 for the 2017 year on another home.”
Luckily, Catelynn and Tyler can probably sweep their money woes under the carpet, considering how much money they make for starring on Teen Mom OG. In fact, their cash flow shows in this gorgeous new shot of their home renovations.

“Our house at night time looks dope! #baltierrafarm,” Catelynn wrote on Instagram, sharing this lovely picture of her home at night. Fans were quick to praise the new look. “That house is the bomb!!” wrote @kellysemmlercooper. User @cassandra_eve1990 wrote, “Your house is so beautiful!!” User @tstone1974 even wrote, “Your house is gorgeous Catelyn & Tyler!!! 🏡You are my favorite couple I have been a fan of yours from day one!!! Your daughter is a gorgeous little girl!!! I love your family 💕 have a blessed day!!! 😍”
It seems that things are much better for Catelynn and Tyler than they were only a few months ago. In November of 2017, Catelynn checked herself into a rehabilitation program to seek intensive therapy for her anxiety and depression. On Nov. 17, she tweeted, “Well today I thought of every way to kill myself .. so I’m going to treatment.”
All of their hard work paid off!

She gave more details to Radar, saying, “I’m taking the time I need right now to take good care of myself. On November 17th I thought of every way possible to commit suicide, from wrapping a belt around my neck to just running my car into an electric pole.”
Despite her difficulties, Catelynn is maintaining a positive attitude. “I’m seeking treatment and I WILL get better,” she said. “This won’t last forever.”
Tyler took to Twitter to show his support for his wife. He wrote, “Incredibly proud of my wife…when she thought she had no choices left, she reached out & decided to LIVE today! My life would be desolate without her in it. You are beautiful, strong, worthy, & loved.”
Fans were supportive of Catelynn’s decision, but many were confused about whether her choice had a trigger. Soon, an explanation came: Catelynn and Tyler had suffered a miscarriage.

“It is actually really sad,” a source revealed to The Ashley’s Reality Roundup at the time. “Catelynn got pregnant and surprised Tyler and Nova and then had a miscarriage not long after. That happened right before she went to treatment [in November] when she tweeted about thinking about killing herself.”
They went on, “The crew and production staff heard she was about six weeks pregnant when it happened, but no one is 100% sure.”
What’s worse is that Catelynn had to relive the experience as she went forward with filming. “Catelynn had to talk about trying to get pregnant and then getting pregnant even after she had the miscarriage. We felt badly for her,” the source said. They revealed that details should be coming soon, saying that the miscarriage “is definitely going to be a big topic on the show.”
Soon, the rumors were confirmed by Catelynn and Tyler on air.

“It was very traumatic,” Tyler recalled while cameras rolled on Teen Mom OG. It was clear that he was extremely shaken by this update as well. “You see her shaking and she got blood everywhere, you don’t know what to do.”
After Catelynn stopped losing blood, it became clear what had happened. “She kind of cleaned herself up and we figured what was going on.” Then, the couple shut down. “We sat in the bed and cried. Just held each other. There’s nothing you can really do.”
Catelynn got medical attention to confirm that she had indeed miscarried. It wasn’t much longer after that that Catelynn checked into a treatment center for having suicidal thoughts. In a later scene, Tyler broke down after learning his wife was in a bad place.

“When you love someone like that and they say that, it’s like...” he said, and then started to cry.
Tyler got support from his producer, Kerthy. “It’s incredible that you were able to find a treatment facility so quickly,” she said. “‘Cause once someone says they want to kill themselves, you can’t f*ck around.”
Tyler agreed, but it’s clear he still needs to process the event himself. “I really wanted that baby,” he said through tears. “LIfe’s just not giving me a break right now.”
After the episode aired, Tyler took to Twitter to reach out to fans about his experience. He wrote:
That baby may have not been fully grown in the womb...but it was fully grown in our hearts. For every parent out there who has lost a baby...it is not your fault & it is more than acceptable & understandable to mourn the loss of that baby & take your time to grieve #ParentStrong.”

It wasn’t long before Catelynn left her treatment center, revealing that she was no longer dependent on marijuana and that she was going to continue an aftercare and medication regimen with her therapist. Even though it was a great relief to many, it wasn’t long before fans began to worry about the state of her relationship with Tyler.
“Laying in bed next to my peacefully sleeping wife,” Tyler tweeted in April, alarming many fans. “I can hear my daughter snoozing away through the monitor in her room. My dog is cuddled up on the floor next to me…& yet I feel so empty...so alone,” he wrote, adding, “#TheCruelIronyOfLife.”
Catelynn soon responded, writing, “I am so sorry babe… I will do anything to help you… you are an amazing husband and father and are so caring, funny, and thoughtful… don’t let life bring you down because you are one strong man… I love you so much.”

Fans were quick to weigh in on the situation to Catelynn. “Don’t you 2 live in the same house?” asked Twitter user @big_toona99. “Can’t you say this face 2 face instead of on [social media]?” Catelynn replied, “[Tyler] is sleeping so gtfo.” Another fan wrote, “It’s time for Tyler to go and get help. Marriage is GIVE and take. He needs a mental break from you.” Catelynn shot back, “And he can have that! Y’all are so ignorant.”
But soon there was a much bigger hint about trouble in paradise: Catelynn dropped “Baltierra” from her name on Instagram.
After being Catelynn Baltierra on Instagram for years, Catelynn recently changed her name back to her maiden name, Catelynn Lowell. Even though it’s just one change, it has clear implications about the state of her relationship with Tyler, and fans were quick to theorize.

“[Tyler] also didn’t post for her during Mother’s Day, which is a red flag for someone who posts the way he does. Lack of wedding rings in his recent photos isn’t a good sign either. WE WANT THE TEA!!!” wrote reddit user penny-lane21. User DrDavidsKilt theorized, “Cate prob watched the new season and has had enough of Tyler's ‘sh*t talk Cate - then cry’ meals with mommy and sissy. I know i'd be like wtf already, you know a camera is there.” User Liltidbit agreed, “I was especially perturbed by Tyler discussing Cate's mental health with his drug addled sister. Of all people! It would be hard for me to come back from just one of those conversations. IMO Tyler isn't interesting enough on his own. He has no story without Cate.”

“Everything is not okay,” the insider spilled to Radar Online. “When I ask either Cate or Ty how they’re doing, thy make no mention of the spouse. It’s weird because they’ve never dodged questions like that before. I know Ty is having a hard time, he’s at the point where it’s like ‘I have to babysit my dad, I have to babysit my sister, I’m pretty much responsible for Cate and Nova...who is going to be responsible for me?’ He’s stuck in that mentality. He says the poems are therapeutic… but that doesn’t change the fact that his messages are cryptic.” The source added, “I very much think he’s depressed and he’ll admit it, but he’ll never admit he needs help.”

In fact, Catelynn and Tyler had apparently stopped following one another on Instagram! “Tyler isn’t following her anymore either,” wrote user meeeeganlm. And on top of this, the two have just gone on trips... without one another!
User lyss383 was the first to spot the fact that Catelynn and Tyler were separated on Mother’s Day. “Cates been snap chatting a lot of Nova and her vacation and Tyler's nowhere to be found. I don't follow him on anything but I saw something about him maybe being in Texas? Anyone know what is going on with them? I think it's interesting they are apart, especially on mother's day after all of the time she's spent away from him already.”

User TylersMAHM wrote, “maybe they’re splitting. While I understand the apprehension re:Cate because of her past, etc. She does seem like the partner who is more stable on social media lately, and like the partner who has more reasonable boundaries with her cray cray addicted family? They were referring, of course, to the dark and depressing poetry that Tyler has been sampling across his social media recently. One reads:

Another goes:
“It’s like my brain is so scattered that the moment I feel like I get what I’m after while climbing this ladder this person in the mirror just smiles through laughter, then smacks me in the face which starts the chase to this inevitable race to feeling broken, beate,n devalued, out of place & now I’m all off pace. It just leaves me shattered and every time I think about my life, my brain becomes battered with only one question...does my life really even matter!?”
But Catelynn soon made a point to set the record straight. She restored her last name to “Baltierra” on her Instagram account. She also shared an update, writing, “[Tyler] and I are not getting a divorce. Couples go through ups and downs that’s normal life. We are a solid couple that will work through anything life throws at us!”

In the meantime, Tyler has gone to even darker places with his poetry. He recently relived his own suicide attempt with graphic details in the form of a poem.
Catelynn stirred up even more rumors when she revealed via social media that she was filming a new show!
“Super excited about this one,” she wrote on Instagram. “It’s going to be so much fun! Also a good experience to educate people.”
She attached a photo of her posing with John Quiñones, the host of What Would You Do? a hidden camera show where strangers’ reactions to controversial situations are filmed. She soon confirmed she was filming for his show on ABC.
“So much fun filming #WhatWouldYouDo today,” she wrote. “Was way different than #TeenMomOG and really cool to be apart [sic] of! Thanks guys!”
Soon after, Catelynn stirred up rumors again by posting a quote that reads, “You have to know that you are good enough and worth it. Once you master belief in yourself no one can steal that love from you.”
